ERS series externally fed rotary filters have a horizontal grooved drum that rotates between bearings. The opening of the slots ranges from 0.25 to 2.5 mm (0.100” to 0.010”) and the drum is driven by a TEFC gear motor. The ERS filter has three methods of keeping the slots clean: A cleaning profile scrapes solids from the surface; The filtered water cleans the filter by coming out at the bottom, and a washing bar that is activated from inside the drum.
MODE OF OPERATION
The effluent enters the inlet pond which distributes it evenly over the upper surface of the drum. As water passes through the filter, solids are retained on the outer surface and transported by rotation to the front of the equipment where they are removed by the cleaning profile. The filtered water cascades into the drum and across the bottom of the drum, creating a washing action. This action, together with the internal cleaning nozzles, keep the filter clean with each revolution.
